The geography curriculum at Little Flower focuses on developing young people’s interest and curiosity in their physical and human environment.
It helps to also develop pupil understanding of the need for a social, economic, cultural and environmental development to meet our needs for the present without threatening those needs of the future.
Some of the issues and topics explored in Key stage 3 include:
Today's Waste, Tomorrow's Resources
Coping with the Weather
People in Our World
Sand and Sea
The Hazardous Earth
At Key Stage 4, for geography, the programme of study is an enquiry based approach, with Units 1 and 2 divided into six themes:
Understanding Our Natural World:
- The Dynamic Landscape
- Our Changing Weather and Climate
- The Restless Earth
Our Living World:
- People and Where They Live
- Contrasts in World Development
- Managing Our Resource
Controlled assessment is Unit 3 that is outlined in the form of a geographical investigation supported by fieldwork. We collect data at the Colin Glen River to support the investigation.
